NDLEA seizes ammunition in Kaduna, nabs suspects in drug operations

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted 380 rounds of military-grade ammunition along the Abuja–Kaduna highway in Kaduna State.

The agency said the ammunition was recovered from a 30-year-old suspect, Sunusi Musa, during a patrol operation at Jere on May 24, 2026. He was allegedly conveying the 7.62mm rounds to Katsina State when he was arrested. The suspect and exhibits were subsequently handed over to the appropriate security agency for further action.

In a statement by its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA said the interception formed part of ongoing efforts to curb the spread of illegal arms.

The agency also reported the arrest of a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, along with Salomi Ezekiel, following the recovery of 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246 kilograms at Gonin Gora in Kaduna State.

In Lagos, operatives uncovered consignments of illicit drugs concealed in water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands. The seized drugs included three kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA.

Similarly, in Niger State, a raid on a warehouse in Gidan Kukah, Bosso Local Government Area, led to the recovery of 457 kilograms of skunk, with a suspect, Godwin Zakka, later arrested in connection with the seizure.

In Enugu State, NDLEA officers intercepted a commercial vehicle along the Onitsha–Enugu expressway and recovered 22,000 tramadol pills, 100 ampoules of pentazocine and 200 grams of bromazepam. A suspect, James Maigari Wisdom, was taken into custody.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Mohammed Buba Marwa, commended the operatives for their efforts and urged them to sustain the crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse across the country.
