The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the redeployment and appointment of senior officers into key command, instructional, and staff positions across the Nigerian Army.
The development, announced in Abuja on Sunday, is aimed at strengthening leadership and repositioning the Army for greater operational effectiveness, particularly in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security.
According to a statement signed by Lt. Col. Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, the reshuffle affects several Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters, two General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, and Brigade Commanders.
Among the new PSOs are Major General A.A. Adeyinka, who moves from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics (Army), and Major General A.A. Adekeye, who takes over as Chief of Personnel Management (Army). Major General T.B. Ugiagbe was also named Chief of Standard and Evaluation, while Major General A.A. Idris becomes Chief of Military Intelligence (Army). In addition, Major General M.O. Erebulu was appointed Provost Marshall (Army).
Other high-profile postings include Major General E.A. Anaryu as Corps Commander Supply and Transport, Major General S.A. Akesode as Head of Mission, African Union Verification Mission in Tigray, Ethiopia, and Major General J.E. Osifo as Director General, Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.
In the field commands, Major General A.S.M. Wase has been appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division/Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma, while Major General C.R. Nnebeife assumes duty as GOC 2 Division/Sector 3 JTF Fansan Yamma.
The Army chief also approved new leadership for its training institutions. Major General M.O. Ihanuwaze was named Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration, Major General K.O. Osemwegie was appointed Commandant of the Army Signal School, Major General A.J. Aliyu takes over the Nigerian Army Ordnance School, while Major General A.C. Adetoba was posted to the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management as Commandant.
At the Brigade level, Brigadier General M. Jimoh has been posted to 1 Brigade as Commander, Brigadier General N.E. Okoloagu to 2 Brigade, and Brigadier General A.A. Bello to 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 JTF South South Operation Delta Safe.
Lieutenant General Oluyede urged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate renewed commitment and leadership in their new roles, stressing that troop welfare and operational success remain top priorities for the Army under his watch.
