The Federal High Court in Lagos has denied the bail applications filed by businessman Afolabi Michael Kazeem, popularly known as KC Luxury, and two others facing charges of alleged cocaine trafficking.
Justice Musa Kakaki, sitting at the Ikoyi division of the court, ruled against the defendants’ applications after considering the nature of the alleged offences and the potential penalties upon conviction.
The court also cited concerns over the possibility of the defendants jumping bail and the growing prevalence of illicit drug trafficking in society.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency had charged Kazeem, Boniface Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo with offences contained in a 21-count charge.
All three defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Kazeem, who is facing 21 of the 22 counts, was arrested on August 13, 2026, at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while allegedly preparing to travel to Paris, France.
The charges followed the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine at a DHL facility in Ikeja, Lagos, with the NDLEA alleging that Kazeem was linked to the consignment.
The agency further alleged that Kazeem conspired with Atandare Oladipupo Oluwarotimi and Latifat Yusuf to export the drugs using the pseudonym “Yemi Ejide.”
Oluwarotimi and Yusuf were reportedly arrested in London in connection with the investigation.
Following the court’s ruling on the bail applications, the case was adjourned for daily hearing from November 2 to November 5, 2026.
The defendants remain presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court.
