2027: INEC opens portal for ad hoc staff recruitment

The Independent National Electoral Commission has opened its online portal for the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the 2027 general elections.

INEC said the INECPRES portal became active on September 18, 2026, for eligible Nigerians interested in serving during the elections.

According to the commission, applications will close at midnight on November 18, 2026. The official portal currently confirms that the 2027 ad hoc staff recruitment exercise is active and carries the same closing date.

The available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel.

INEC said applications can be completed through the web version of the INECPRES platform, while eligible applicants using Android devices can also access the mobile application.

The commission advised prospective applicants to review the eligibility requirements before applying. For example, applicants for Presiding Officer and Assistant Presiding Officer positions may include serving NYSC members, penultimate students of tertiary institutions with IT knowledge, certain public servants and former corps members from 2024.

Applicants must also meet other requirements, including not being members of political parties or having expressed support for a political party or candidate.

INEC urged interested Nigerians to complete their applications through the designated INECPRES channels before the November 18 deadline.

The recruitment forms part of the commission’s preparations for the 2027 general elections. INEC’s current election calendar lists January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections and February 6, 2027, for the governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
