A National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) member, Musa Momoh Tunde, has slumped and died while watching a football match at the Kebbi orientation camp.

It was gathered that the corps member slumped while watching an inter-platoon football match, leading to his death on Friday, March 26.

The deceased was a graduate of Public Administration at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State.

Speaking on the demise of the corps member, the Director-General of NYSC, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, condoled with Tunde’s family, describing the deceased as a young patriotic Nigerian who died while serving his country.

The NYSC DG, in a condolence letter presented by Barrister Ahmed Tijjani, urged the family to accept the corps member’s death as a divine act.

Shuaibu, who noted that death was unavoidable and could occur at any time, said Tunde died as a dignified young man who was ready and willing to offer his quota to national development.

He added that the deceased would be remembered as a selfless and patriotic Nigerian.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the deceased’s elder brother, Mr. Yahaya Mohammed, said the family was comforted by the fact that Tunde lived a decent life and died honorably and in active service to the country.

It was, however, gathered that the late corps member has been buried at Kebbi State cemetery according to Islamic rite.
