An FCT High Court has adjourned till January 18, 2024, for the continuation of the trial in the alleged procurement fraud suit against the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
The presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, made the declaration on Tuesday, November 28.
Emefiele, who was granted bail in the sum of N300 million on November 22, was accused of using his position to confer a corrupt advantage on Sa’adatu Yaro, a staff member of the CBN by awarding a contract for the procurement of 43 vehicles worth N1.2 billion between 2018 and 2020.
Justice Muazu had, after granting Emefiele bail, ordered the former CBN boss to produce two sureties in like sum.

The judge ordered that the sureties must have certificates of occupancy and titles of properties within the Maitama District.
Emefiele was also mandated to deposit all his travel documents with the registrar of the court and must remain within the Abuja Municipal Council.
He was subsequently remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending when he meets the bail conditions.
However, the former CBN Governor, who has yet to meet his bail conditions, was brought to court and taken away by the officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service on Tuesday.
