Court remands KC Luxury, two others over cocaine trafficking

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the continued detention of social media influencer Afolabi Michael Kazeem, popularly known as KC Luxury, and two others over allegations of cocaine trafficking.

Justice Musa Kakari gave the order after the three defendants were arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Friday.

Kazeem, Boniface Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

The NDLEA accused Kazeem of involvement in the alleged trafficking of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine seized at a DHL facility in Ikeja, Lagos.

The agency said Kazeem, 49, was arrested on August 13, 2026, at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while preparing to board a flight to Paris, France.

The defendant, who is said to be involved in gold and luxury goods trading, has been in NDLEA custody since his arrest.

The court had earlier, on August 20, granted an order extending his detention for 30 days.

During Friday’s proceedings, the prosecution presented the three men before the court in connection with the alleged drug operation.

Kazeem alone was said to be facing 21 of the 22 counts filed in the case, covering allegations of unlawful exportation and possession of controlled substances as well as money laundering.

The NDLEA alleges that Kazeem was linked to the shipment in which the 184.5kg of cocaine was intercepted.

Following the arraignment, the court ordered that the defendants remain in NDLEA custody pending further proceedings.

Justice Kakari adjourned the matter until October 2, 2026, for ruling on their bail applications.

The allegations against the defendants have not been proved in court. They remain entitled to the presumption of innocence unless convicted by the court.
