The Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday, March 7, 2025, remanded 25-year-old Faruk Lawal and 45-year-old Blessing Otubo, over alleged theft of three cooking pots worth N100,000.

The duo had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing preferred against them.

The prosecutor, Inspector Oluseye Akinola, told the court that the defendants committed the crime on at Iyemetu Area of Ibadan on March 1.

Akinola said Lawal broke into the house of one Olaitan Omola and stole three cooking pots valued at N100,000 and sold same to the second defendant.

The prosecutor stated that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Magistrate, O.O. Latunji, ordered Lawal and Otubo to be remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan, after their inability to perfect their bail conditions.

Latunji admitted each of the defendants to a bail of N50,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

She, therefore, adjourned the case until April 9 for hearing.
