A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, has ordered that a 43-year-old man, Friday Abu, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old niece.
The police charged Abu with defilement.
The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, told the court on Friday, July 12, 2024, that Abu committed the offence at about 5:50 p.m. at Olugbede Compound in the Alapere area of Lagos on May 29.
Iberedem said Abu sexually defiled his 15-year-old niece who lives with him.
Man declared wanted for defiling 3-year-old daughter
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Magistrate, E. Kubeinje, who did not take Abu’s plea, ordered the man’s remand and directed the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
Kubeinje, thereafter, adjourned the case until July 23, 2024, for DPP’s advice
