A Kano State High Court, on Monday, November 11, 2024, ordered the remand of a 43-year-old man, Mannir Ibrahim-Abdullahi, in a correctional centre for allegedly raping a minor to death.
The Kano State Government charged Ibrahim-Abdullahi with culpable homicide and rape.
The prosecution counsel, Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, told the court that Ibrahim-Abdullahi committed the offence at Jaba Panisau Quarters in Kano on August 1, 2024.
Abba-Sorondinki said the victim’s father took the minor to Waraka Chemist in Kano, owned by the defendant for malaria treatment.
The prosecutor added that the defendant raped the victim to death.

Abba-Sorondinki said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 221 and 283 of the Penal Code
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The presiding judge, Justice Zuwaira Yusuf, ordered that Ibrahim-Abdullahi be remanded in a correctional centre in Kano.
The judge, therefore, adjourned the matter until December 9 for hearing.
