A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Tuesday remanded a 37-year-old man, Joseph Olasope, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly inserting his finger into the private part of a three-year-old pupil.

Olasope is standing trial on a one-count charge of sexual assault.

The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at a school in Badagry, Lagos State, on October 8, 2025.

The prosecutor said Olasope was caught inserting his finger into the private part of the three-year-old pupil.

He added that the offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, M. F. Onamusi, did not take the defendant’s plea and ordered that he be remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

Onamusi adjourned the case until December 10 for advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
