A Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Wuse area of Abuja has remanded Ebuka Francis in the Nigerian Correctional Service Centre for allegedly stealing a generator set.
Magistrate Chioma Agbaza ordered the remand of the man on Tuesday, January 20, and adjourned the case until February 24 for accelerated hearing.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Faith Sunday, told the court that the complainant, Martha Haggai, reported the matter to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Wuse, on January 12.
Sunday said the defendant went to Poly Plaza, Wuse, Abuja, and stole a Fireman Generator worth N900,000.

Sunday stated that the generator belonged to one Mariah Babatunde, adding that the offence contravened the provisions of section 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The defence counsel, Joan Osinmen, applied for the bail of the defendant citing section 158 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), saying he would not interfere with investigations.
The prosecution however opposed to the bail for likelihood of the defendant jumping it because he jumped bail earlier granted in another criminal matter against him.
