A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State has remanded a 13-year-old boy (name withheld) in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a two-year-old girl.
The Magistrate, Ejiro Kubeinje, ordered the remand of the teenager on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
The teenager is standing trial on a one-count charge of defilement.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, told the court that the teenager allegedly committed the offence at 8:25 p.m. at Ayodele Musa, Unity Estate in the Egbeda area of Lagos on September 23, 2024.

Iberedem said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 210 (8) of the Child’s Right Laws of Lagos, 2015.
The magistrate, therefore, ordered the remand of the teenager at the correctional centre after taking his plea.
Kubeinje, who refused to grant the defendant’s bail application, ordered that the case file be forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
She subsequently adjourned the case until December 19 for mention.
