Woman seeks refund of N1.64m mistakenly sent to Pastor Jerry’s church

A woman, Okpara Sandra, has appealed to Pastor Jerry Eze’s Streams of Joy International to refund N1,640,200 she allegedly transferred to the church’s account by mistake.

In a video circulating online, Sandra said the money belonged to other people who had been demanding its return, adding that the transfer was not an offering.

“So I made an erroneous transfer of N1,640,200. I can’t lie because it’s a church. Please, I need the money back. It’s not an offering,” she said.

Sandra explained that she mistakenly sent the money to the church’s account and was struggling to raise the funds to repay the owners.

“The money doesn’t belong to me, the people who own it are calling me and I don’t know where to get it from,” she said.

Appealing for assistance, she added, “I am a single mum of two, I don’t have a husband. Please help me and put the money back.”

Reacting to the video on Saturday, the church said it had not received any direct complaint from Sandra before the matter surfaced online.

In a statement posted on its official Instagram handle, @streamsofjoyinternational, Streams of Joy said it routinely handles reports of erroneous transfers through a verification process.

The church said its team had contacted Sandra using the telephone number provided in the video to examine her claim and establish whether the transaction was made in error.

The statement read, “We have become aware of this claim through the video circulating online.

“Before its publication, we had not received any call, email, direct message or formal complaint from the individual regarding the alleged erroneous transfer.

“Streams of Joy routinely receives and resolves reports of erroneous transactions through the appropriate verification process.

“In any case, we have called her to investigate further using the number in the video. If all her claims are valid, we will do the needful.

“Our team remains available and committed to addressing all genuine concerns transparently and responsibly.”
