Dangote warns public against impersonators, fake investment schemes

Dangote Industries Limited has alerted the public to a rise in impersonation and fraudulent activities carried out by individuals falsely claiming to represent the company, its executives, and members of the Dangote family.

In a statement posted Tuesday on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the company said it had become aware of increasing cases of fraudsters using its name and that of its leadership to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

According to the statement, the impostors are promoting fake investment opportunities, business proposals, charity appeals, employment offers, and other schemes designed to extort money and sensitive personal information.

The company stressed that neither its Group President, Aliko Dangote, nor any of its executives or members of the Dangote family solicit funds, investments, contracts, or personal details from individuals through social media platforms such as WhatsApp, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram.

It specifically clarified that some members of the Dangote family do not operate Facebook or TikTok accounts, warning that any such profiles claiming affiliation are fraudulent.

“Under no circumstances do the company’s executives initiate direct contact with private individuals through social media channels for financial transactions, business opportunities, or personal requests,” the statement emphasized.

The conglomerate advised the public to ignore unsolicited messages, phone calls, or online accounts claiming ties to the company or its leadership. It noted that all official communications are issued strictly through verified corporate channels and recognised media platforms.

Dangote Industries further disclosed that it is collaborating with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to identify, investigate, and prosecute those behind the scams.

Reaffirming its commitment to brand integrity and public safety, the company urged anyone who receives suspicious communications to report the matter promptly to the appropriate authorities.
