Davido hails Buhari for ‘credible’ Osun guber election

Award-winning Nigerian singer, Davido, has extolled President Muhammadu Buhari for the President’s remarks while congratulating his uncle and winner of the Osun State governorship election, Ademola Adeleke.

Adeleke had defeated the incumbent governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, in the governorship election held in Osun State on Saturday.

Buhari, while congratulating Adeleke said the victory of the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reflected the Will of the people of Osun State.

The President, in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, reiterated his commitment to leaving behind “a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria”.

“The people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot. This is what democracy is all about: respect for the will of the people. The successful conduct of the election is a demonstration of the maturity and the commitment of all stakeholders, towards strengthening the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria.

“I remain fully committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria,” Buhari had said.

Reacting to the President’s tweet on Twitter, Davido said: “You will leave a LASTING legacy! God bless you for this act alone sir!”
