Delta Poly restricts staff, students from entering campus over indecent dressing

Scores of students have been restricted from entering the campus of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state following an order imposed on the dress code by the management of the institution.

The restriction, which did not exclude the staff of the polytechnic, commenced on Friday as hundreds of people, particularly females, who did not wear bras and underwear, were turned back from entering the campus.

It was gathered that the development was due to the enforcement of the ‘war against indecent dressing’ by the management of the polytechnic.

It was further learned that the institution had cautioned the staff and students against indecent dressing with the paste of posters warning against low waist, open chest, torn jeans, short skirt, bump shorts, amongst others.

The management of the polytechnic later directed its security department to monitor students and staff members who fail to adhere to the rule.

Speaking on the restriction on Friday, the Assistant Director, Public Relations of the Polytechnic, Manfred Oyibogbeye, said the institution is only carrying out sensitisation to discourage indecent dressing among the staff and students.

“It is not a policy of no bra, no entry. The school is only carrying out sensitisation to discourage indecent dressing. Later, there will be a measure to sanction those that go against the rules,” Oyibogbeye said.
