Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has regained her freedom after being arrested over allegations she made against popular cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor.
The actress had earlier accused the pastor of promising to marry her during what she claimed was a relationship, allegations she raised shortly after reports emerged that the cleric was planning to wed.
Ogala further claimed that the pastor later withdrew from the promise, making several other allegations in the process.
Her public outbursts and threats to release what she described as evidence reportedly led to her arrest and detention, sparking widespread reactions on social media. Many users called for her release, including controversial activist Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman.
In a new development, Doris Ogala confirmed her release from police custody in a post shared on her Instagram page.
In the message, she expressed gratitude to human rights activists Verydarkman and Omoyele Sowore for their roles in securing her freedom.
“Thank you Sowore. Thank you so much to my ratel kong. VDM,” she wrote.
Her release has since generated fresh reactions online, with supporters welcoming the development and calling for due process to be followed in resolving the matter.
