Twitch suspends Carter Efe for four months after Davido livestream

Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Carter Efe, has had his Twitch account temporarily suspended, just days after hosting a record-breaking livestream with Afrobeats superstar Davido.

The highly publicised livestream, held on December 17, 2025, drew massive attention online and propelled Carter Efe to become Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer, with his follower count surpassing 405,000.

Announcing the development on Monday, the comedian revealed that Twitch placed a four-month suspension on his account for alleged violations of the platform’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Twitch, however, did not disclose specific details regarding the infractions.

The suspension comes shortly after Carter Efe overtook other Nigerian content creators, including Shank Comics, and recorded one of the most-watched livestreams on the platform following his collaboration with Davido.

In reaction, fans and supporters took to social media to express disappointment and solidarity, describing the comedian as a “joy giver” and calling on Twitch to reconsider its decision.

Although online speculation has suggested that the suspension may have resulted from mass reporting related to comments or actions during the livestream, claims of bans on other platforms have been dismissed as untrue.

The timing of the suspension has particularly upset fans, as it coincides with the festive season, with many urging Twitch to resolve the issue promptly.
