E-registration: APC slams ADC, denies coercion of civil servants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants are being compelled to take part in the ruling party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement issued on Monday, February 2, 2026, described the allegation as misleading and aimed at undermining the credibility of the party’s digital registration process.

Morka said the claim was part of what he called a deliberate campaign of falsehood by the ADC, recalling that the opposition party had earlier circulated a fabricated APC membership slip alleging that a terrorist had enrolled in the party.

Morka added that the level of interest in the exercise prompted the APC leadership to extend the registration period from January 31 to February 8, 2026.

He stated: “That claim is entirely false and baseless, and seeks to cast a shadow over the cutting-edge and pathbreaking digitisation of our party’s membership register.  It is a part of ADC’s disinformation campaign that included the fabrication and circulation of a fake ‘APC membership slip’, purporting that a notorious terrorist had registered as a member of APC.

FCTA workers ignore NLC, JUAC protest call, resume duties

“Inspired by visible gains and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, millions of Nigerians have registered and continue to register, voluntarily and enthusiastically, as members of our party, compelling our leadership to yield to popular demand to extend the period of registration from January 31 to February 8, 2026.”

The APC spokesman further accused the ADC of being unsettled by the success of the exercise and attempting to undermine the ruling party through what Morka described as misleading narratives.

Morka added: “Clearly, the ADC is intimidated by the phenomenal success of our party’s E-Registration exercise, for obvious reasons. However, that cannot justify concocting and spewing lies in an attempt to smear the exercise.

“While the ADC continues to fumble and peddle falsehood, our great party remains focused on its onward march as Africa’s standard-bearer of digital and democratic innovation.”
