Edo police begin manhunt for boyfriend after bathing lover with acid

The Edo State Police Command has called for information that will lead to the arrest of one Timothy Gilbert, who allegedly doused his 40-year-old girlfriend, Angela Ogah, with acid in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, made this known on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Yamu said the suspect fled immediately after the attack at Ikpoba Hill area of Benin, the capital of Edo State.

Yamu disclosed that the duo had been embroiled in “issues of suspicion of infidelity,” which degenerated into an argument before the suspect allegedly resorted to violence.

The police spokesman appealed to couples against abusive relationships, stressing that “love is not by force.”

Ogah is currently battling for her life in an undisclosed hospital, while Gilbert had fled Benin to evade arrest.
