Educationist tasks NSE members on professionalism

A Dutse-based educationist, Dr. Adamu Aliyu Kiyawa, has urged the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to sensitise its members on the need to update their knowledge and skills to enhance professionalism in engineering profession.

Addressing the NSE members during the association’s annual general meeting and inuaguration of New Exco in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, Kiyawa said through the updated skills, knowledge and expertise of engineers, their reputation will attract public confidence in fighting the syndrome of collapse constructions in the country.

“I urge our engineers to stand firmly to sanitise their skills and knowledge in confronting unforeseen challenges. You’re expected to work hard to acquire public confidence.

“Acquiring paper qualifications cannot not be overemphasised, but then improving upon skills, expertise, and knowledge is equally paramount to enhance professionalism in engineering profession,” he said.

Some topical issues on the challenges facing engineering profession and the way forward were discussed at the event, while the new Executives for the Dutse branch unit of the NSE were inaugurated.

In his post-election speech, the newly elected Dutse NSE Chairman, Engr. Garba Aliyu Kiyawa, pledged to take the association to the highest level.

Kiyawa also promised to run a transparent, honest, and committed administration for the betterment of all the NSE members.

Other elected NSE Executives were the Vice Chairman, Engr. Hassan Abba; Secretary, Engr. Yusuf Abdullahi; and the Financial Secretary, Engr. Ibrahim Garba; among others.
