The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested the immediate past governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, over alleged N27 billion fraud.
It was gathered that Ishaku, who served as Taraba State Governor between 2015 and 2023, was arrested at his residence in Abuja on Friday, September 27, 2024.
It was further learnt that the former governor is still in the EFCC custody in Abuja as of the time of filing this report.
Ishaku’s arrest was confirmed by the spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale, on Friday.
The latest development is coming on the heels of the ongoing face-off between the EFCC and the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, over the fraud allegation of N8.2 billion.

The commission recently vowed to arraign Bello in person before the court, saying the former governor must have his day in the courtroom.
The anti-graft agency added that like other indicted former ministers, ex-governors, several top government officials, captains of industries, and internet fraudsters facing trial, Bello would not be an exemption.
The EFCC said it had arraigned three former ministers, two ex-governors, several top government officials, and internet fraudsters, among others in 2024, noting that many individuals would be arraigned in due course.
It added: “Every former governor, minister, head of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) being investigated by the Commission would soon be charged to court.
“The EFCC is not running a circus show. Corruption issues should not be turned into a theatre of the absurd. Those who harbour a criminal suspect should know that the act is also a criminal offence which is also punishable in law.”
