EFCC arrests man for naira abuse at birthday party in Enugu

The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Iziga Ikechukwu, popularly known as Easy-Money, for allegedly abusing naira notes during his birthday party in Enugu State.

The EFCC said Ikechukwu, a 24-year-old palm kernel dealer, was arrested following an actionable intelligence received via a viral video circulating on social media in which he was seen recording himself, while abusing naira notes in his hotel room, during his birthday celebration.

The anti-graft agency, in a statement on Thursday, March 5, 2026, said upon the receipt of the intelligence, a preliminary investigation was conducted and the identity and address of the suspect were identified, adding that he was arrested at his residence located around timber market in Enugu-Ezike, Enugu State, on Saturday, February 28.

The EFCC disclosed that N81,700 suspected to be part of the money the suspect was mutilating was recovered from his.

The commission said the offence contravened Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Act of 2007, adding that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
