Ekiti United begin search for new coach, technical adviser

The Ekiti United Football Club Management says efforts to employ a new Head Coach and a Technical Adviser are ongoing.

The Management Board Chaired by Funke Babalola, disclosed this while speaking on the outcome of its monthly meeting held in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

This is contained in a statement by the team’s Media Adviser, Quozeem Oladapo, on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti.

Babalola said acceptance of Curriculum Vitae from interested coaches officially began on Saturday October 2.

She said several top coaches from across the country had shown interest in becoming the Head Coach of Ekiti United FC, the state-owned football team.

“All interested coaches are expected to route their applications and CVs through the team’s email:ekitiunitedfc2013@gmail.com between Saturday October 2 and Tuesday Oct.5.

“The shortlisted coaches will  be invited for interview on Thursday October 7,” the statement said.

Babalola further said all other members of the technical crew were to retain their positions, while 18 players out of the 38 players on the payroll of the team had been sacked.

She said some players had also been allowed to join new teams in furtherance of their football careers, after the end of the management’s monthly meeting.

The management of the club also lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi for his tremendous support to the team during the just concluded 2021 Nigeria National League and their maiden appearance at NNL Super 8 in Enugu.

The management assured that the team would be reorganised in line with the best global professional practices ahead of the 2022 NNL season.

It, however, expressed displeasure at the unceremonious departure of Coach Samson Omiponle to Warri Wolves FC.

It said a firm contractual agreement would be established with the set of coaches that to be employed for next season in order to avoid unexpected snatching of its coaches and players in the future.
