Enugu Air crashes at Benin Airport

An aircraft belonging to Enugu Air reportedly ran off the runway at the Benin Airport, according to videos and images circulating on social media on Thursday.

Visuals from the scene showed the aircraft resting on a grassy area beside the runway, with its tail and one wing visibly detached from the fuselage.

Passengers and airport personnel were seen walking around the wreckage, with no visible signs of casualties in the footage reviewed.

The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the flight number and what caused the aircraft to veer off the runway, could not be immediately confirmed.

Enugu Air, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) are yet to issue official statements on the incident as of the time of filing this report.

The airline, in a statement, has confirmed the incident.
The airline management said: “Enugu Air wishes to inform the public that one of our aircraft operating into Benin experienced a runway excursion after landing today.
“We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties.
“The aircraft has been secured and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures. An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway.
“As a result, there may be temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.
