Sadiq Aminu Wali, son of a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, has emerged as the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary election conducted by the Bello Hayatu Gwarzo-led faction in Kano State.
Sadiq is the immediate past Kano State commissioner for Water Resources who resigned to contest the 2023 governorship election.
The chairman of the electoral committee, Bunmi Adu, declared Sadiq Wali winner having scored the highest votes of 455 to beat Ibrahim Ali-Amin who came second with 333 votes.

Yunusa Dangwani, a former Chief of Staff to former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, came third after polling 276 votes, while Yusuf Dambatta, a former commissioner for Land and Planning scored 182 to be in the fourth position.
Former Kano State Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Muaz Magaji, and former chairman of the state anti-corruption agency, Muhuyi Magaji, scored 25 votes each, while Mustapha Bala Getso polled 20 votes.
The six contestants participated in Gwarzo-led faction of the PDP in contrast to the two other contestants who participated in the Sagagi-led faction
Aminu Wali, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, National Vice Chairman, North West of the PDP are leading the faction that lost legal battle to control the party in Kano.
