Ex-Tinubu’s minister Tuggar loses Bauchi APC guber ticket

The immediate past Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has lost the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general election.

Tuggar, who recently resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet to pursue the governorship ambition under the APC platform, was defeated by former Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar (SAN).

The outcome of the primary election, conducted on Friday, was announced on Saturday morning by the Chairman of the APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primaries Committee for Bauchi State, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (rtd), John Abang.

Announcing the results, Abang said Abubakar secured 57,517 votes to emerge winner of the contest, defeating six other aspirants.

According to the results, Tuggar polled 26,001 votes to place second, while Nura Manu Soro garnered 13,638 votes.

Other contenders in the race included Bala Maijama’a A. Wunti, who scored 13,648 votes, Kabir Baba Ma’aji with 8,157 votes, Baba Abubakar Suleiman who secured 7,688 votes, and Yakubu Yakubu Abdullahi who polled 7,181 votes.
