The Federal Government has announced plans to suspend the evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates from Uganda, Kenya, and Niger Republic.
The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, said this on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
This is coming after the government suspended the evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates from Benin and Togo Republic.
Mamman said: “We are not going to stop at just Benin and Togo.

“We are going to extend the dragnet to countries like Uganda, Kenya, even Niger here where such institutions have been set up.”
The suspension of the degree certificates came as a result of an investigative work by a journalist that led to a publication in the Daily Nigerian Newspaper on December 30.
A reporter with the online newspaper, Umar Audu, had carried out an investigation titled “UNDERCOVER: How DAILY NIGERIAN reporter bagged Cotonou varsity degree in six weeks, participated in NYSC scheme”.
The federal government had also banned 18 foreign universities from operating in Nigeria for violating the country’s Education Act.
The affected universities are five from the United States, six from the United Kingdom, and three from Ghana.
