Family raises the alarm over missing NYSC member in Abuja

Family members, friends and colleagues of Eunice Ameh have raised concern over her disappearance after she reportedly went missing in Abuja under unclear circumstances.

Ameh, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps and a lawyer, was last seen on Wednesday evening while returning home from work in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory.

Sources close to the family said she recently secured employment as a Sales Manager with Blades and Butchers Ltd., a livestock and value-added products company located on Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama.

According to the sources, Ameh had resumed work at the company barely two weeks before her disappearance.

“She is the Sales Manager for the company and she just started two weeks ago. She was meant to participate in her final Community Development Service yesterday and pass out soon after,” a family source said.

The source disclosed that Ameh was last seen around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, while heading home after work.

“She was on her way home after leaving the office and heading towards the junction leading to Life Camp,” the source added.

Concern over her whereabouts reportedly grew after repeated efforts to contact her failed, as all her mobile phone lines remained switched off.

Friends and relatives became alarmed after she could not be reached throughout Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

“At about 11 a.m. on Thursday, one of her friends alerted the family that Eunice had not returned from work the previous evening and repeated attempts to reach her had been unsuccessful,” the source disclosed.

Ameh is said to reside in a corps members’ lodge in the Life Camp area of Abuja, where fellow corps members and residents have also expressed concern over her disappearance.

Family sources confirmed that the matter had been reported to the Nigeria Police Force through the Maitama Division after her employers formally lodged a complaint.

The family described the development as traumatic and said they were deeply worried about her safety.

“The family is distraught and in panic while they hold on to hope that police investigations will help locate her,” the source said.

As of the time of filing this report, no individual or group had contacted the family to demand ransom or make any request linked to her disappearance.

“All her mobile phones are switched off and no one has reached out for ransom or made any demands,” the source added.

Efforts by security agencies to trace her whereabouts were said to be ongoing.

The spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, had yet to comment on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
