Femi Fani-Kayode has formally assumed duties as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa after presenting copies of his Letters of Credence to the country’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
Fani-Kayode announced this in a post on his X handle on Saturday, saying the presentation took place on Friday, October 30, and marked the commencement of his diplomatic assignment.
He presented the documents to Clayson Monyela, the department’s Deputy Director-General of Public Diplomacy and Acting Chief of State Protocol.
“Following the presentation, I also met with Ambassador Seboga, Deputy Director-General of DIRCO, in his office, as part of my initial diplomatic engagements with senior South African government officials,” he said.

Fani-Kayode described the presentation as an important diplomatic milestone, adding that it preceded the formal ceremony in which he would present the original Letters of Credence to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
He said the ceremony with Ramaphosa would take place in the coming days.
