Fayose: I supported Tinubu, worked against Atiku in 2023 election

A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, says he worked against the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

Fayose, who is a chieftain of the PDP, disclosed that he worked for the victory of President Bola Tinubu, the flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ekiti State during the 2023 presidential election.

The former governor said he worked against Atiku because the PDP has not been fair to him.

He said this in an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

Fayose said: “I never worked for PDP during the last election. I cannot work for two people at the same time.

“The reality is that I worked for Asiwaju (Tinubu). He is a respectable person from the South-West. It is the time of the South.”

Fayose recently met with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, saying he won’t hesitate to criticise the president’s administration if it fails to fulfill its campaign promises to Nigerians.

He, however, expressed confidence in Tinubu’s administration, saying at no time has he spoken against the policies of the president even when he was Lagos State Governor.

Fayose is an ally of the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who has since been at loggerheads with Atiku.
