The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed a viral message circulating on social media claiming that all schools nationwide have been ordered to shut down from 24 November 2025.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Borioowo Folasade, described the message as false, misleading, and not authorised by the Federal Government, the Ministry of Education, any State Ministry of Education, or any recognised security agency.
The Ministry urged the public to rely strictly on verified information from official channels, including the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, State Governments, State Ministries of Education, and recognised security agencies.
It warned that any announcement or advisory not issued through these channels should be disregarded.
Members of the public were also encouraged to always verify information before sharing it, in order to curb the spread of misinformation.
