FG deploys tactical teams as Shettima vows tough action against terrorists

The Federal Government has ordered the deployment of additional tactical security teams to Borno State following the bomb incident at a mosque in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri.

Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the directive in a statement on Thursday, saying the move is aimed at tracking down those responsible and preventing further attacks.

He added that intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated security operations are being intensified across the area.

Shettima said security agencies have been placed on high alert and instructed to respond firmly.

Condemning the attack, the Vice President described it as a cowardly assault on innocent worshippers and a threat to national peace and stability.

He warned that the Federal Government would not allow anyone to undermine public safety.

“Our security agencies have been directed to act decisively and ensure that those behind this heinous act are swiftly brought to justice,” he said.

Shettima expressed confidence that ongoing security efforts would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and reveal the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He extended condolences to the Borno State Government, residents of Maiduguri and families affected by the tragedy, assuring them of continued federal support.

“The Federal Government is confident that those responsible will face the full weight of the law,” he added.

The Vice President reiterated the Tinubu administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that security remains a top priority.

He said the Federal Government is working with state authorities and local security formations to better safeguard vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure across the North-East and beyond.
