FG directs workers to register for N40,000 bag of rice

The Federal Government has directed all public servants to register for the purchase of the 50kg bag of rice at N40,000.

The directive was contained in a letter issued by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, on Monday, August 5, 2024.

The government, in the letter signed by the Director of Human Resources of the ministry, Jaiyesimi Abimbola, directed all interested workers to complete a Google form on the Office of the Head of Civil Services of the Federation (OHCSF) website and submit it to the director of human resources for endorsement.

The federal government recently announced the creation of centres across the country where Nigerians could purchase a 50kg bag of rice at N40,000.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, who disclosed this, said the initiative was one of several initiatives by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ease living conditions for Nigerians.

However, Abimbola noted that designated offices would coordinate the payment for and the distribution of the rice while the chairman of the Joint Union Council of the ministry, would serve as an observer for transparency reasons during the exercise.
