The federal government has declared that students of state universities will have access to the education loan in the next three weeks.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Akintunde Sawyerr, made this known during at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Sawyerr disclosed that the weducation loanebsite of the student loan fund has received over 60,000 visitors since its launch, saying over 90 per cent of federal universities have applied for the loan.
He said only two federal universities and two federal polytechnics are yet to do so.

The NELFUND boss said: “In line with our commitment to democratize higher education, we are excited to announce that NELFUND will commence accepting applications from students attending state-owned tertiary institutions in three weeks’ time.
“We request all state institutions to submit their students’ data immediately, as requested, in order to facilitate a smooth and seamless application process.”
“However, we urge the remaining two federal universities and five federal polytechnics to expedite the process to ensure that all eligible students can access NELFUND’s financial support.”
