A fire has broken out at the Bono Energy Terminal in the Coconut area of Apapa, Lagos, prompting an emergency response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

The agency’s spokesperson, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, saying firefighters were working to contain the blaze at the fuel terminal located along the Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway near Coconut, Olodi Apapa.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow,” Amodu said.

The cause of the fire had not been determined as of the time of filing this report, while details of possible casualties or the extent of damage were yet to be confirmed.

Emergency responders remained at the scene as efforts to bring the fire under control continued.
