Fire breaks out at Lagos airport terminal 2

A fire incident occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Sunday, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed.

In a statement, FAAN said its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) swiftly responded to the incident and was working to bring the situation under control.

The agency added that no casualties or loss of life had been recorded.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

“The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation.

“There have been no reported casualties or loss of life,” the statement said.

FAAN assured the public that further updates would be provided as more details emerge.

The latest incident comes months after a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on February 23. Following that incident, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Farouk Umar, disclosed that the fire completely disrupted the terminal’s air-to-ground communication system.
