A fire outbreak has destroyed 110 structures at the Kofar Ruwa Timber Market in Kano, affecting 75 permanent buildings and 35 temporary structures.
The Kano State Fire Service said the incident occurred on Saturday, with a report received at about 7:39 a.m. from a timber dealer identified as Alhaji Abba.
The service’s Public Relations Officer, PFS Kabiru Isah Jafaru, disclosed this in a statement, saying firefighters were immediately deployed from various stations across the Kano metropolis.
He said personnel arrived to find the fire had engulfed several sections of the market but managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other areas.
