The assailants killed the five forest guards and looted five AK-47 rifles and 10 magazines belonging to them.

They also seized one AK-47 rifle and a magazine from a police officer.

“In addition, the terrorists burnt two motorcycles, one Explosive Ordnance Disposal Hilux vehicle, and other personal items belonging to the police personnel,” a source said.

The corpses of the victims were evacuated to the General Hospital, Kaiama.

Security agencies are currently tracking the perpetrators.

Attempts to obtain official confirmation from police authorities were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
