President Bola Tinubu has celebrated Africa’s richest man and Dangote Group chairman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on his birthday, describing him as a shining example of African enterprise whose achievements continue to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs across the continent.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu credited Dangote’s entrepreneurial vision and industrial ambition with transforming Nigeria into a hub for large-scale petrochemical and cement production, pointing to the multi-billion-dollar Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company and the group’s network of cement factories across Africa as evidence of his outsized impact.
“Aliko’s entrepreneurial vision, resilience, innovation and commitment to excellence have transformed industries and positioned Nigeria as a hub for large-scale petrochemical and cement production,” the President said.
Tinubu also praised Dangote’s role in job creation and infrastructure development, and applauded his philanthropic record through the Dangote Foundation, which the President said had made significant strides in health, education and poverty alleviation.
“As Aliko marks another year, I pray for his continued good health, wisdom, and greater accomplishments in service to Nigeria, Africa, and humanity,” Tinubu added.
Dangote, who holds the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, turned 68 on April 10.
