Nasir Gawuna
The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Nasiru Gawuna, has stepped down from his position.
Gawuna, a former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, is reported to have concluded arrangements to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He is expected to formally join the party on Tuesday, according to sources close to the development.
In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, Gawuna said his decision takes immediate effect and complies with President Bola Tinubu’s directive requiring all political appointees to resign in line with the Electoral Act ahead of upcoming political activities.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as a privilege to contribute to the growth of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the nation.
“My resignation is in strict compliance with the President’s directive requiring all political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act,” the letter stated.
According to DAILY NIGERIAN, Gawuna added that he is placing his political future “in the hands of Allah (SWT),” seeking divine guidance on his next steps.
He also assured of a smooth transition, pledging to hand over all responsibilities in line with established procedures.
