Former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafadeen Tunji Ishola, has reaffirmed his support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State election.
Ishola declared his support during a consultative meeting with the Egba League of Imams and Alfas in Abeokuta, where he described the All Progressives Congress governorship hopeful as the right candidate to lead the state’s next phase of development.
The former envoy, who had earlier dissolved his political structure in support of Adeola’s ambition, said the senator possesses the experience, leadership qualities and vision needed to govern Ogun State.
“I have no doubt about your capacity and experience to govern and improve the fortunes of Ogun State. You have my full support, now and forever, because what is important is the development of Ogun State, and I know you are also committed to Ogun State like I am,” Ishola said.
Reflecting on his public service career, Ishola said his decision was driven by his commitment to the progress of Ogun State and loyalty to the APC.
He noted that he had served as Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Finance, Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
According to him, his experience in public office places a responsibility on him to support the party’s position and the state’s development.
Adeola’s governorship aspiration has continued to attract endorsements from political leaders and interest groups across Ogun State.
According to a statement issued on Friday, the senator has received support from the Ijebu Traditional Council of Obas, traditional rulers in Yewaland, community leaders in Ogun Waterside, the Arewa Community in Ogun State, as well as former governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel, Ibikunle Amosun and the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun.
