The scarcity, which started a few days ago, got worse between Sunday and Monday morning, forcing motorists to spend hours at filling stations while many passengers were stranded.

The cause of the fuel scarcity could not be ascertained as of press time but it was learnt that it was due to supply disruption to independent marketers in Lagos State.

The Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) is yet to explain the cause of the scarcity which was earlier witnessed in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
