Ganduje: I could’ve slapped Kwankwaso at Aso Rock

The immediate past governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, says he would have slapped his predecessor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, if he met him at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Ganduje and Kwankwaso met with President Bola Tinubu at the same period at the Presidential Villa on Friday, June 9.

Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, Ganduje said he and Kwankwaso did not meet face to face.

He expressed displeasure with the security situation in Kano State following the demolition exercise embarked upon by his successor, Abba Yusuf.

“I know he (Kwankwaso) is in the building but we have not met. Probably if we met, maybe I could have slapped him,” the former governor declared.

Ganduje, who described Yusuf as a “stooge” of Kwankwaso, added that the demolition exercise in Kano was done without carrying out any investigation or giving due notice in line with the provisions of the Land Use Act.

He disclosed that he reported the matter to Tinubu, saying he had written the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, with video evidence of the looting and vandalisation that trailed the demolition.

The Star had reported that the Kano State Government, on June 3, commenced the demolition of illegal structures erected at Race Course and some identified public places in Kano.

Governor Yusuf said the structures erected in schools, mosques, public playgrounds, graveyards, markets, and hospitals would be demolished to ensure strict adherence to the urban planning, beautification, and safety of people.

He further assured the commitment of his administration to restoring the glory of the state by reclaiming all encroached public land and properties that were used to erect illegal structures by private individuals or groups.
