Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano has picked the nomination form to contest Kano North senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ganduje’s two-term stint at Kano Government House would be coming to an end on May 29, 2023.

Sources in Kano Government House confirmed to The Star that the decision for the governor to go for Senate was reached at the weekend where the governor endorsed his deputy as his successor.

The governor will slug it out with the ranking Senator Barau Jibrin who represents Kano North senatorial zone at the upper legislative chamber.

It is unlikely if Senator Jibrin will contest against Ganduje on APC platform.

2023: Jonathan distances self from APC presidential forms

Senator Jibrin is a leading gubernatorial aspirant of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of G-7 faction that recently lost control of the party structure at the Supreme Court.

Although Jibrin is yet to pick a nomination form, he is believed to be making consultation with supporters and associates on the next line of action.

Stakeholders in Kano State APC, over the weekend, had deliberations where decisions on the party’s possible flagbearers for 2023 elections were chosen  prior to the forthcoming primaries.

The alignment and realignment are part of APC’s efforts to confront now divided but strong opposition parties of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano.
