An early morning explosion at Mando Motor Park in Kaduna State sent residents and commuters into a panic on Sunday before authorities confirmed it was not a bomb blast but a gas-related incident.
The explosion, which occurred around 3:00am, involved a luxury bus powered by compressed natural gas. The Kaduna State Police Command said preliminary findings indicated that an overfilled gas tank in the vehicle was responsible for the blast, which produced a loud bang audible enough to trigger widespread alarm in the surrounding area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the development, noting that the bomb disposal unit and other security operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene to secure the area and assess the risk.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded. Normal activities at the motor park have since resumed.
