The Governing Council of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has taken disciplinary measures against Pastor Leke Adeboye, the son of revered Pastor E.A. Adeboye.

The junior Adeboye was punished for calling some RCCG pastors ‘goats’.

Sources in the church confirmed to The Star that Leke is presently undergoing disciplinary action.

The church is yet to come out with the nature of the punishment, whether the General Overseer’s son has been suspended or not.

“He faced a panel this week. He is on suspension,” a source said.

But Pastor Leke confirmed the disciplinary measures in a statement issued on Thursday wherein he apologised for his outburst.

The younger Adeboye stated that he has accepted the disciplinary measures taken by the mission in good fate, saying that he would use the period to reflect and introspect.

His words: “I wish to use this medium to tender my unreserved apologies on the statement made from my social media handle about our esteemed Pastors.

“The disciplinary measures taken by the mission is well received and this period will be used to reflect and introspect.

“I wish to crave your indulgence to please forgive my extreme statement which I wish to emphasise was absolutely not intended to insult or malign.

“I also wish to apologise profusely to the entire leadership and pastors of our beloved Church who might have been hurt by this statement

“I remain humbly yours in God’s love and mercies.

“Yours in His service.”

Daddy GO, as he is fondly called, had delivered a sermon to the RCCG congregations across the country on Sunday as every first Sunday of every month is designed as Thanksgiving Sunday and parishes were linked up with the Nationwide Headquarters of the church.

It was learnt that some RCCG pastors violated the church’s rule by preaching in their parishes after the General Overseer’s sermon.

Furious at the development, Leke Adeboye, who took to his Instagram page, described the pastors as goats.

Adeboye wrote: “Why would you go and preach another sermon after Daddy GO had just finished speaking and preaching. You are not a son, you are a goat sir.

“Next Thanksgiving service, just do altar call, then Thanksgiving.”

With the backlash from the post, Adeboye deleted the post.

A check by The Star on Wednesday showed the son of the RCCG General Overseer has since deleted the post from his Instagram page.

Leke Adeboye’s statement was greeted with wide condemnation with many calling for his suspension by the church.
