The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has expressed profound condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, the esteemed journalist and co-founder of Newswatch magazine, who passed away at the age of 75.
In a statement signed by GOCOP President Danlami Nmodu, mni, and General Secretary Sufuyan Ojeifo, the guild described Mohammed’s death as a major loss to both the media industry and the nation.
“Mohammed’s contributions to Nigerian journalism are immeasurable.
“As a pioneer of investigative journalism, he left an indelible mark on the country’s media landscape.

GOCOP highlighted Mohammed’s pivotal role in shaping Nigerian journalism through Newswatch magazine, noting his depth of insight, dedication to fact-based reporting, and mentorship of emerging journalists.
The guild prayed for strength for his family and friends and that his soul may rest in peace.
“As the media fraternity mourns Yakubu Mohammed, we also celebrate his life and legacy.
