Engineer Aliyu Mohammed, popularly known as Kombat, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, has announced his withdrawal from contesting any elective position in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, Kombat said his decision followed deep personal reflection and consultations with family, mentors, elders, and political associates.
“I will not be contesting in the 2027 General Elections. This decision did not come easily, and I ask for your understanding and prayers,” he said.
While acknowledging the disappointment this may cause among his supporters, Kombat reaffirmed his full allegiance to the APC, pledging to support the party’s progress at all levels.
“I remain firmly committed to the ideals of my party and will continue contributing to its development,” he stated.
Kombat also emphasized that his exit from the political race would not affect his ongoing humanitarian efforts through the Velocity Humanitarian Foundation, which he said will continue its work with “renewed passion and greater reach.”
“Service to humanity is not tied to political ambition.
“Should duty call in the future, I will respond with the same spirit of sacrifice that has always guided me,” he added.
